Painting Stuffed fables: Piggle

Here is the first hero I am painting in Stuffed fables: Piggle.

Colors used in the first painting session: «Centaur skin» and «Grimoire purple». Centaur skin gives a good pig color I think, but both suffer from bad coverage. The photo above is after 3 layers, so there will be a few more before I can continue.

After a second session and another three layers of paint on the pig I feel quite satisfied with the result. I might add some light wash, but I have not decided yet.

A great source of inspiration for how to color this miniature was Paul Gestwicki’s Blog. After actually reading some of the text and not only looking on the pictures I see that he painted the bases of the hero miniatures according to the color on the dice used to control that character. Great idea that I choose to follow!

I can’t decide if I think Piggle looks best with our without the «Soft tone» wash on the body. Anyway, I’m quite happy with the final result.

After fourth painting session

Forgot one thing! (One more thing…) I was thinking of putting «Gloss varnish» on the lollipop for a wet/sugar coated effect. Finally came around to adding it, and I like the result! Three layers of gloss varnish and it looks like it is so sugar coated so I’m almost trying to eat it.
